about

BALMASEDA has a holistic approach to design; a hands-on manifesto that explores the symbiotic relationship we that we could all have with our clothing.

Being true believers in quality over quantity, our perpetual quest for perfection engages diligent research and development of new methods, while maintaining a deeply rooted respect for traditional craftsmanship.

Exploring the realm between art and fashion, we aspire to create multi-use garments that emphasize a different kind of luxury; one that combines humble materials with exquisite artisanal techniques. These timeless, future-heirloom pieces are equally beautiful inside and out.

Our work illustrates the meaningful results we can obtain by using alternative methods of production that are fair to everyone and everything. We support local industries through collaboration with uniquely talented local artisans, working exclusively with recycled and organic materials, and by exporting only the end product.

We create non-seasonal capsule collections for people who appreciate true craftsmanship; those willing to push the boundaries and stand out from the crowd.

  1. I came across your work while researching for my final project of my course, I'm studying textiles design in Melbourne. I am so inspired by your process and the way you care so deeply about the environment. I'm also really inspired by the beauty of the garments you make. Using waste materials is so interesting because they already have a story to tell and when you give them new life the story becomes even more interesting and beautiful. Keep up the great work. Nikita :)

    1. Greetings Nikita,

Thank you for your kind words and appreciation of my work. It is quite rewarding to know that the message I am trying to send comes across, and that in some -small- way I can make a difference.

I was actually surprised you found the BALMASEDA blogger page so helpful, as it is quite outdated. That was a temporary landing page I created while I set up a proper website for the label.
Have you been to www.balmaseda.com? There is much more information and up-to-date content there which might be more useful and exciting to look through.

If you have any questions/comments/suggestions they are always welcomed.
I wish you all the best in your studies and creative journey.

      Kindly,
      ZAIDA ADRIANA GOVEO BALMASEDA
